Google Maps Introduces Three New Features to Assist with Holiday Travel
Google has added three new features to Maps as the summer travel or vacation season approaches. Not only that, but according to Google, users are starting to see new design updates that offer a new look to Maps. The new look offers a cleaner home page with fewer tabs and new pin colors to help you find places on the map. Google Maps is a commonly used navigation tool or application around the world. One reason is that it is packed with useful features that Google is constantly updating to make it better.
For starters, Google Maps makes it simple to find the ideal dining and sightseeing spots. Google has partnered with professionals and residents in select cities in the US and Canada to bring you curated restaurant recommendations. Search for the city you want and swipe up to get recommendations. You’ll find listings from reputable sources like The Infatuation and Lonely Planet, as well as hidden gems and trendy spots.
The Trends list highlights the hottest new restaurants, updated weekly based on what people are talking about on Maps. The top list covers the community’s all-time favorite restaurants, proven basic restaurants. Finally, there are hidden gems that are local favorites that may not yet be popular.
In addition, Google Maps makes it easier to organize and share your favorite destinations. You can now make lists to keep track of where you want to travel or where you’ve been. Creating a list is easy: just tap “New List” on the Saved tab. Then, if you find a location of interest in Maps, you can add it to your list.
Additionally, you can also include links in your social media posts, such as your review of a great restaurant. This will help you remember why the location deserves a spot on your list and make your recommendations more useful. According to reports, this update will be available for Android and iOS devices worldwide later this month.
You can also quickly get a picture of the location before you leave. Google’s artificial intelligence (AI) evaluates reviews and photos to show what people like the most. AI can now recognize dishes from photos, which is ideal for navigating new menus. Check the name, price, popularity and whether it’s vegetarian or vegan for this delicious dish. Google says all this information can help you decide whether or not you should make a reservation.
